S/V Osprey
1976 Ranger 33
Osprey is a 33 foot sloop-rigged Gary Mull designed racer/cruiser. All lines lead aft for easy single-handing with wheel steering. She motors comfortably and quietly with her reliable engine and is a great sail in any winds. She is big enough to live aboard but affordable enough to own as a weekend cruiser.
Systems: 30hp Atomic 4 engine, fresh-water cooled and runs fantastic. Brand new Indigo prop designed for Atomic 4. Water pump, Force 10 heater, red dot engine heat, alternator, DC battery charger, portable solar panel trickle charger.
Full sail plan: 90%, 110%, 140%, storm jib, spinnaker with pole. Harken Roller furling. The 2 primary sails (main and 110%) are aged. They do the job but have seen better days. However, the add'l sail inventory is in great shape.
Galley: 4 burner propane stove and oven. Cold machine refrigeration. Sink w/ running water. Stainless steel BBQ in cockpit. Currently, the propane system is disconnected. The small bottles are outdated and for a safer system, I recommend an aft rail mount of 1 larger tank. Easy fix as it's only 1 line into the salon.
Electronics/Gauges: Ritchie 4" pedestal-mounted magnetic compass, handheld VHF, knotmeter, wind meter, engine gauges (temp, oil pressure, amps), and Pioneer CD/FM Stereo system.
Safety: Lifejackets, flares, strobes, first aid fit, spotlight, and fire extuinguishers all in good working condition.
Berthing (sleeps 6): V-berth forward, U-shaped dinette drops to become double berth, Single settee berth, Quarter berth (currently used for stowage).
Head: Enclosed head with sink and installed Electra-San Sewage Treatment System. A shower is plumbed and could be set up if desired (it'd be a tight fit, though).
Misc equipment: 6ft inflatable tender with 3hp outboard, CQR and Danforth anchors, rod holders, Dodger (needs repair), cockpit cover for use when not sailing, and radar reflector.
Recent Work: Complete survey in 2005. New bottom paint, replaced o/b discharge thru-hull, new exhaust, engine tune-up, new Rule automatic bilge pump, new fire extinguishers and flares, strut re-glassed, and new Indigo Prop (designed for Atomic 4 engines). The remaining items on my to-do list are cosmetic and/or low-cost, low-tech fixes!
